Our Services

Baby Matters OT provides services in the convenience and comfort of your home, in your family's natural environment.

We travel within 20 minutes of Newton, MA, and within 30 minutes of Newton, MA for an additional travel fee.

Baby Matters provides fee-for-service sessions and is considered an out-of-network provider.  A superbill can be provided at the end of each session which may be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Be sure to check with your insurance for reimbursement or through your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA).

Why occupational therapy?

An occupational therapist specializing in early childhood development and feeding/lactation provides individualized hands-on therapy to optimize development while supporting the family unit.

  • Do you have a premature baby or a NICU graduate and want to make sure they are on track? Do you need guidance on how to optimize their potential?

  • Does your baby have bottle refusal or aversion?

  • Do you need support with breast/bottle feeding and oral motor therapy for your baby with tethered oral tissues (TOTs)?

Occupational Therapy Services

This service provides individualized occupational therapy assessment and intervention for the following:

Feeding therapy: early bottle/breast feeding, reflux/colicky, feeding refusal/aversion, picky eating, transitioning to solids, G tube fed, concerns with growth, gassy/colicky, tongue tie (TOTs), pre-post frenectomy, oral motor feeding therapy

Sensory or Motor Concerns: head preference/shaping concerns, torticollis, low muscle tone, delayed early motor milestones, visual motor coordination, early social skills/interaction, brachial plexus injuries

High risk infants: time spent in the NICU/SCN, preterm birth, low birth weight/IUGR, multiple birth pregnancy, complications with delivery, congenital/genetic abnormalities, exposure to maternal substances

Developmental Wellness Consultation

This consultation is designed for families of well babies who seek individualized developmental support. Babies brains are constantly evolving based on his/her experiences. Each developmental leap and stage is a foundation for the next.

You will gain:

  • hands on support and demonstration about how to hold, interact, facilitate movement, or feed your baby in a meaningful way. 

  • knowledge and insight about development as it relates to your baby and his/her unique skill/stage.

  • education on preventing atypical patterns of development, anticipating the next developmental phase, and recommendations for targeted, age appropriate stimulation

Newborn Developmental Consultation

Those first few months can be very exciting, but overwhelming with sleepless nights and unpredictable routines. This consultation will support families newly arrived home from the hospital through the first 12 weeks.

You will gain:

  • support and coaching on early feeding (breast or bottle)

  • sensory strategies for soothing

  • hands on demonstration of newborn positioning, including tummy time, which will serve as the foundation for sensory-motor development

  • education on how to learn your baby's cues, which will guide your interpretation of his/her needs and help strengthen family bonding/attachment

  • anticipatory advice on preventing commonly seen postural deformities and head shaping issues

  • tips on using proper body mechanics during daily routines
